MAD SQUABLZ

Philadelphia, PA lyricist, Mad Squablz’ ability to switch up his own flow on every song and change to whatever cadence he feels necessary is what makes his music both unpredictable and appealing. Although he gets his name from the classic film Training Day, the 25 year old hip hop artist and producer continues to prove that he is no rookie; sharing the stage with legends like Busta Rhymes and Talib Kweli, and releasing various videos that made Hip Hop Legend, LL Cool J reach out on Instagram.

Squablz has taken over the underground with freestyle videos that have gone viral, causing fans to create multiple reaction videos on YouTube and even had the legendary Rah Digga saying “do you hear this sh*t?”.

Since his early beginnings, Squablz has been humble when it comes to his talents, as he preferred to play the background - never wanting to draw attention to himself. No one knew he had such a gift except him. It wasn't until his grandfather passed away from cancer that Squablz then decided to let his parents know of this talent. His love for singing birthed his passion for music production which eventually birthed his life’s passion for Hip Hop, with some help from his cousin who encouraged him to sculpt his craft. Luckily, his cousin’s encouragement worked, which in turn, Squablz put out his first mixtape, titled Puppets in the Game, at the age of sixteen. Fast forward from his typical beginnings, to 2016 when Squablz was named The 2016 Philly Hip Hop Lyricist of the Year, which then came with critics calling the, then 20 year old West Chester University student, a “young lyrical genius” and “Hip Hop Savior.”

By the end of 2016, Squablz had viral videos on the internet exceeding 1 million views. He was one of Team Backpack’s 2016 Mission Underground favorites and even tipped the scales with his EP Art of BoomBap – Generation Next coming in at Team Backpack’s #7 Album of the Year. Squablz' relationship with Team Backpack went a step forward when he entered their contest to find three 2016 Mission Underground Champions (a global Hip Hop show-of-talents that screened well over 6000+ hip hop contest entries from all over the world). By the end of the auditions, Squablz, alongside two other underground artists, beat out their competition and received the very prestigious 2016 underground award. Additionally, this experience included numerous invites to YouTube Space to record collaborative music videos projects.

Squablz’ discography has since been growing into a reputable collection. His most popular project, Lamps, released in 2018, and the project did an excellent job of making new listeners become fans immediately. “Lamps is based off of me coming from a dark place and into a light place… I used to sit in my dorm room with this lamp on and just writing, every night.” the whole album is melody driven, real hard kicks and snares, bars of course, and I was doing a lot of singing on that [Lamps]. I had to give them that side of me, that artistry side of me.”

Currently, Squablz has been releasing a slew of music videos for remixes, tracks from his projects, and more to go along with his next project releasing soon, "Land of Uncertainty".
